Bailey Kennedy, LLP was founded in 2001 by John R. Bailey. Its team of professionals represents, among others, top healthcare facilities, publicly traded corporations, gaming companies, financial institutions, travel and tourism leaders, public utilities, local governmental entities, real estate developers, and entertainment concerns and entrepreneurs.

Bailey Kennedy is led by managing shareholder John R. Bailey and partners Dennis L. Kennedy, Joshua M. Dickey, Joshua P. Gilmore, Joseph A. Liebman, and Paul C. Williams. John Bailey and Dennis Kennedy were previously shareholders in Nevada’s largest law firm, Lionel Sawyer & Collins, before Mr. Bailey left to form his own practice.

Mr. Bailey is one of Nevada’s most renowned health care litigators and has been practicing law in Las Vegas for over 37 years. He has been named a “Super Lawyer” every year since 2007. Mr. Bailey is a past member and two-time past chairman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. He has served as Vice Chairman and a member of the Character and Fitness Committee of the Nevada State Bar for over 25 years. He has been recommended to the President of the United States for a Judgeship on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Bailey is a well-known community leader in Nevada. He has served on the Board of Directors for Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) since 2017, and previously served on the Board of Directors of SHFL Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: SHFL). He serves on the following boards and commissions: Southern Nevada District Court Review Commission, Council for a Better Nevada, Public Education Foundation, Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance, Cristo Rey St. Viator College Preparatory, and The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

Bailey Kennedy shareholder Dennis L. Kennedy’s practice focuses on business and professional liability litigation. He has been listed with a “1” ranking in the Chambers USA category of Litigation: General/Commercial in Nevada since 2003. He has also been named one of the Top 10 “Mountain States Super Lawyers” every year since 2015, and a “Nevada Super Lawyer” every year since 2007. As one of Nevada’s most renowned litigators, Mr. Kennedy has been recognized for the past 33 consecutive years as one of the Best Lawyers in America for Bet-The-Company litigation, commercial litigation, healthcare law, and appellate practice. Mr. Kennedy has been practicing law in Nevada for 48 years and has represented many of the country’s leading drug, food, health care, insurance, tobacco, hotel-casino, and other companies in both the enforcement and defense of their rights. He is a former Adjunct Professor of Law at UNLV’s Boyd School of Law and co-editor of the Nevada Civil Practice Manual − the definitive authority on Nevada civil practice and procedure. Mr. Kennedy is active in the community and serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.

Joshua M. Dickey is a shareholder in the firm, and has been chosen by Super Lawyers as a “Mountain States Super Lawyer” every year since 2010, a “Mountain States Rising Star” in 2009, and a “Nevada Rising Star” in 2008. Mr. Dickey’s litigation practice focuses on complex civil disputes in health care law, business and corporate law, and complex civil litigation, including disputes in areas such as commercial law, corporate law, business torts, and constitutional law. He also advises clients on matters concerning healthcare, corporate governance, and competition, with much of his practice occurring in the healthcare space. Mr. Dickey is a former member of the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board of the State Bar of Nevada and served for 10 years on the editorial staff of the Nevada Civil Practice Manual.

Joshua P. Gilmore is a shareholder in the firm and has been with the practice since 2009. Mr. Gilmore has been a “Super Lawyer Rising Star” every year since 2013. Mr. Gilmore’s primary area of practice is complex commercial litigation involving breach of contract, fraud, and business torts. He has also developed a robust practice in the area of legal ethics and professional responsibility, and is frequently asked to handle matters involving legal malpractice, attorney disqualification, and charging liens. Mr. Gilmore also regularly defends attorneys being investigated by the Office of Bar Counsel and appearing before the Disciplinary Boards of the State Bar of Nevada. His clients range from solo practitioners to owners of large law firms.

In 2014, Joseph A. Liebman was promoted from associate to partner. Mr. Liebman has been with Bailey Kennedy since 2008 and practices in the area of complex real estate litigation, partnership and limited liability company disputes, product liability cases, professional liability cases, and health care matters. His clients include real estate developers, brokers, lenders, borrowers, and guarantors. Mr. Liebman has been ranked as a “Mountain States Super Lawyer” since 2017, and has been recognized by Benchmark Litigation as a “State Litigation Star.” He is also a member of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

In 2021, Paul C. Williams was promoted from associate to partner. Mr. Williams has been with the firm since 2010. He mainly practices in the area of healthcare and commercial law. Mr. Williams represents healthcare providers in legal disputes, as well as numerous physicians, medical providers, and businesses in negotiating, drafting, and litigating non-competition agreements. He also helps clients navigate complex commercial and class action litigation including breach of contract, fraud, and intentional interference disputes. Mr. Williams was selected as a “Mountain States Super Lawyer” in 2023 and a “Nevada Rising Star” from 2015-2022.
