Much like the industry itself, labour relations in construction can move incredibly fast. We work with employers during every step of the process to ensure that their needs are met.

- Labor Relations
Our Firm provides comprehensive advice to unionized employers on all aspects of labour relations. Our depth of collective bargaining experience is one of our greatest strengths, enabling us to serve as both effective spokespersons at the bargaining table and trusted ‘behind-the-scenes’ advisors. Our lawyers are dedicated to helping employers achieve their bargaining goals and mandates while minimizing the risk of a labour disruption.
We have an extremely successful track record at arbitration, and our reputation as superior advocates has allowed us to foster respectful relationships with virtually every Ontario trade union. Our sound understanding of the arbitration process, individual arbitrators, and collective agreement interpretation enables us to consistently deliver favourable results and precedent-setting decisions for our clients.
We regularly act as counsel in all types of proceedings before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Canada Industrial Relations Board. Our lawyers have substantial experience defending employers against unfair labour practice complaints, certification applications, cease-and-desist applications, Occupational Health and Safety Act proceedings, and complaints under the Employment Standards Act, 2000.

- Litigation
When workplace disputes escalate, strong legal representation is essential. Our litigators handle every stage of the process, advocating for employers in wrongful dismissal claims, human rights complaints, employment-related contract disputes, and other workplace litigation.
Our Firm has extensive experience advocating for employers before federal and Ontario courts, including frequent appearances before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Federal Court of Appeal. Our Firm’s practice regularly encompasses judicial review applications, health & safety appeals, labour dispute injunctions to restrain unlawful picketing activity, and litigation arising from the enforcement of restrictive covenants and departing employee obligations.
We prioritize solutions that align with our clients’ business objectives. We regularly recommend Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods to achieve efficient and cost-effective outcomes. Our lawyers are highly skilled in negotiation, conciliation, mediation, and arbitration, ensuring that employers receive practical and results-driven representation at every stage of a dispute.
- Occupational Health & Safety
Ensuring a safe work environment is not only a legal requirement but also a critical component of effective risk management. Our Firm assists employers in meeting their obligations under Occupational Health and Safety Act, responding to Ministry of Labour inspections and investigations, appealing Ministry orders, defending against regulatory charges, and implementing proactive workplace safety strategies.
We believe that a preventative and proactive approach to legislative compliance is best. However, if a critical injury, accident or other safety issue does occur in the workplace, our experienced team is prepared to provide comprehensive representation to employers.
- Privacy and Data Security Law
In today’s rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, protecting employee and customer data is essential for every employer. Our Firm provides comprehensive advice to businesses on compliance with privacy laws, workplace monitoring policies, cybersecurity best practices, and effectively responding to data breaches, ensuring that your workplace policies align with evolving legal and technological standards.
Our expertise in the areas of privacy and freedom of information is particularly strong. We regularly advise clients with respect to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), and other privacy statutes. We also assist clients in developing robust policies and procedures with respect to the collection, use and disclosure of information, helping your organization maintain compliance and build trust.
- Workers' Compensation Law
We help employers confidently navigate workplace safety and insurance matters, offering practical, results-focused advice every step of the way.
Our team advises on all aspects of claims management, return-to-work strategies, and appeals. We have extensive experience representing employers before both the WSIB and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT). From ensuring compliance to defending claims and managing costs, we work closely with employers to reduce financial exposure and minimize operational risk.
- Workplace Investigations
When allegations of misconduct, harassment, or discrimination arise, a prompt and thorough investigation is critical. Our experienced lawyers regularly conduct independent, impartial investigations into workplace complaints and provide strategic advice to guide employers through every stage of the process. When not acting as lead investigators, we regularly collaborate closely with other external investigators – whether retained by our Firm or our clients – to ensure every investigation is comprehensive and fair.
As lawyers and litigators, we bring a unique skill set: the ability to assess evidence with precision, navigate complex dynamics, and approach every investigation with a deep understanding of both legal risk and workplace culture.
Whether conducting independent and thorough investigations or advising employers on best practices for handling internal investigations, our team is committed to helping organizations achieve compliance, mitigate risk, and foster a respectful workplace culture.
