Overview
In the Fall of 2005, the founding partners of Heninger Garrison Davis began discussions regarding the potential merger of two separate and distinct law firms. Steve Heninger, Tim Davis, and Erik Heninger had been practicing together for many years and were focused on the litigation of civil cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and business litigation. Lew Garrison had established a prolific and successful firm that emphasized class actions, mass torts, and pharmaceutical claims.
Combining those areas appeared to be a natural and complimentary fit that would be a unique and effective model. Lew Garrison’s expertise and large network of referring attorneys across the entire country was unrivaled in Alabama. Steve, Tim, and Erik had established a reputation as highly skilled and effective courtroom lawyers among the judges and attorneys throughout the state. The talents, experience, personalities, and goals of these founding partners meshed perfectly. The aim was ambitious but the forecast was bright.
On February 1, 2006, the physical merger was completed and Heninger Garrison Davis, LLC opened its first office at 2224 1st Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama. There were eight attorneys and a legal support staff of ten. One year later, Lee Gresham joined the firm as a partner. The firm opened an Atlanta office in 2010 along with another office in New Jersey when the firm expanded its practice to include a nationwide presence in patent infringement/intellectual property litigation. By the time the firm celebrated its 10th anniversary in Boston in 2016, the firm had grown to 27 attorneys and a talented support staff of over 25.
While the founding partners fully expected this firm to be successful, the growth has been nothing short of phenomenal. We have been blessed with a recognition and respect as one of the premier litigation firms in the United States. The firm has represented professional athletes, coaches, judges, congressmen, and other high profile clients while serving a long and proud line of clients who have injury claims or business disputes. Our lawyers have been recognized by their peers for the highest of abilities in such preeminent publications and organizations as: Martindale Hubbell, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Million Dollar Advocates, and Litigation Counsel of America.
We are understandably proud of what we have established at our firm. We are excited and focused on an even brighter future.
