The firm's property tax practice, led by attorney and former Montana Department of Revenue tax attorney Joel Silverman, grew to include more than 200 individual property valuation appeals across Montana in 2025. That work uncovered recurring flaws in the state's appraisal practices, leading the firm to file a 2026 statewide class-action lawsuit against the Department of Revenue, with co-counsel Edwards & Culver, alleging the agency used sales data outside the legally required valuation period to improperly inflate property assessments.
Attorney Michelle Ostrye secured a Yellowstone County District Court ruling establishing a permanent right for client Longbranch Bar, LLC to draw water from a well on neighboring property, following a two-day bench trial. The court rejected the neighboring landowner's claims and confirmed the well had been drilled specifically to serve the bar decades earlier.
The firm has also represented clients in resolving significant property disputes, including a code enforcement matter that cleared the way for a Billings property to be redeveloped into a community resilience center.
