Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Mensing or AZA, is home to true courtroom lawyers who provide clients with a formidable track record in complex commercial litigation including energy, trade secret, intellectual property, construction, and business dispute cases.

AZA earned a coveted rating for its work in Texas commercial litigation in the 2014 -2021 editions of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, published by Chambers and Partners which is recognized worldwide for its prestigious guides to the legal profession. AZA was named First-Tier in Commercial Litigation in Houston by U.S. News & World Report and The Best Lawyers in America in their rankings of the nation’s Best Law Firms. Likewise, AZA was named a Recognized Firm by Benchmark Litigation—the definitive guide to America’s leading litigation firms and attorneys.

In 2015, AZA was recognized as one of only 10 boutique firms nationally by Law360 for successfully challenging the nation’s biggest law firms. The list of Top 10 Boutiques includes firms that are on par with the biggest firms but less expensive and more accessible to clients. Likewise, AZA was named among the “Most Feared Law Firms” by corporate counsel at major U.S. companies, as surveyed by the leading legal research group BTI Consulting. The 40 firms across the country on the 2015 list were chosen on the basis of extensive interviews with 300 general counsel and in-house litigation counsel at top-spending companies and organizations. In addition, AZA was chosen the 2015 and 2019 Litigation Department of the Year by the publishers of Texas Lawyer newspaper. The annual honor recognizes the Texas-based litigation firms that have excelled during the previous year based on courtroom results. Just three general firms are chosen statewide for having the top litigation departments.  AZA, a powerhouse with fewer than 40 lawyers, claimed the top spot in the small-firm category.

Dedication to clients, coupled with the ability to prevail in the courtroom before judges and juries alike, is why so many general counsel across the U.S. know AZA. It’s also why corporate counsel have named AZA one of the law firms with the best client service of those serving the Fortune 1000. In fact, AZA has been hired on many occasions by the same companies the firm has prevailed against at trial.

Since our firm’s very beginning in 1854, Bieser, Greer & Landis has helped individuals and companies solve their problems – in and out of the court room. Our litigation clients count on us to be efficient and goal oriented. We consciously strive to avoid spending time and money on collateral and secondary disputes and issues. Instead, we attempt to resolve the underlying dispute without creating side issues that generate legal fees and provide little or no benefit for the client.

We represent individuals, growing businesses and Fortune 1000 companies on both sides of disputes that originate in Ohio – or elsewhere. Our lawyers have taken cases to trial and have argued cases in many regions of the United States, as well as in the United States Supreme Court. Clients retain us because our attorneys confront the risks they face as though they are their own and because they have the skill and expertise to communicate complex issues in simple and understandable terms.

Outside of business disputes, the bulk of our litigation work is in defending individuals and companies. We also represent individuals and companies injured or harmed by others. Our representation of plaintiffs is as vigilant and aggressive as our advocacy for individuals and corporations on the defense side.

Family law and probate administration is an area where Bieser, Greer & Landis has also excelled. We work with clients and their families to achieve their goals while providing advice concerning consequences of the alternatives available to the clients.

Burns Charest's founders were partners and attorneys at some of the finest commercial litigation boutiques in the nation. In 2015, Warren Burns and Daniel Charest came together to build a new, aggressive platform to pursue their clients’ interests.

We know that experience matters to clients and judges. And we have it. Our lawyers have actually tried a complex class action to verdict, served as co-lead counsel in multi-district litigation, secured a $106 million judgment in the first of the 2008 mortgage meltdown cases to go to trial, obtained significant settlements in royalty-owner disputes, and regularly represented individuals and businesses in complex, bet-the-company cases.

We currently serve as co-lead counsel in national antitrust and commodity class actions. We represent numerous royalty owners in disputes against oil and gas giants. We serve hundreds of individuals whose lives have been threatened by exposure to asbestos. And we are helping landowners clean up decades of environmental damage.

We have a strong team. Our lawyers are some of the most experienced and talented of their generation, and we are happy to match our credentials against others.

Our focus is on the future. We believe firmly that our nation’s legal system was designed to protect individuals and businesses from the wrongdoing of others and to assure a level playing field. As lawyers, we have an incredibly important role to play in making that system work for our clients. And we will not shy away from a fight to protect their interests.

We are Burns Charest LLP.

Carlson Caspers is an acclaimed intellectual property law firm known for excellence in intellectual property litigation and counseling, including patent infringement litigation, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, data privacy, ANDA, Hatch-Waxman, monetization, inter partes reviews (IPR), appeals, and more.

Founded in 2003 in Minneapolis, MN, our firm has built a reputation for remarkable client success in consumer, commercial, and industrial markets across a wide range of complex, technology-driven sectors such as manufacturing, medical devices, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, data privacy, and wireless communications.

Our firm has 31 licensed attorneys, many admitted to federal court in Minnesota, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Many of our attorneys are also licensed in other federal and state national courts.

As a go-to intellectual property boutique with a deep bench of highly experienced lawyers from top technical and legal schools, our attorneys practice intellectual property litigation and counseling, with five attorneys also performing patent filing and strategic counseling services related to patent prosecution. We also have a robust IPR practice and routinely pursue parallel actions in district court and the USPTO in patent infringement cases.

Your business goals are the primary driver of any strategy, and understanding various business realities is foundational to our representation.

We appreciate that not all matters require the same approach and believe we are particularly adept at tailoring our strategies to align with our client's business interests. Some matters warrant a "no-stone-left-unturned" effort, while less mission-critical matters warrant a more streamlined approach.

For example, in a patent litigation defense, we would need to understand what your liabilities would be, what your projections are for the future of the allegedly infringing product or system, whether there is a basis for indemnification, and whether there is a possible non-infringing platform being examined for the future. We also would want to know more about the patents, understand the prior art, and other invalidity and non-infringement positions that may be available, etc. We are confident that our experience, expertise, and judgment will quickly and efficiently develop and execute strategies that will deliver successful resolutions. For example, for patent prosecution and as business owners, we would understand your budget and goals for every patent to be strategic and predictable in the outcome.

We believe that solid communications are crucial. We've found that keeping clients well-informed about the ongoing status of matters is key to optimal matter resolution and client satisfaction. Communications can take several forms, including weekly case update meetings in litigation matters and the opportunity to comment on proposed pleadings well before the filing date.

One of Carlson Caspers' core tenets is respect for the diversity of our clients, colleagues, and communities. Our commitment to inclusion is the foundation for a vibrant work environment and unparalleled client service from varied perspectives in developing strategies and solutions to serve our client's business goals. We recognize that diversity and inclusion require ongoing and active engagement within our firm and the broader community. Carlson Caspers is committed to ensuring that our lawyers are treated relatively in work experience, mentoring, and overall career advancement. We offer a 1LDiversity Scholarship Program, participate in the Twin Cities Diversity In Practice (TCDIP) 1L Clerkship Program (obtaining many of our most recent associates through that process), and sponsor and participate in organizations that promote diversity and inclusion within the legal profession. The firm also offers a 1L Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship program. We also strive to staff each litigation matter with attorneys representing diversity and inclusion.

The experienced lawyers at Carlson Caspers make up a diverse team of scientists, pharmacists, engineers, and technologists who focus on delivering value by respecting the client's genius and bringing in-depth industry knowledge, technical experience, subject matter expertise, and a global business perspective to every legal challenge. Clients include Fortune 500 companies as well as small companies and individuals.

CM Law, formerly known as Culhane Meadows, was founded in 2013 through a visionary alliance of four attorneys who came together to build a different kind of law firm. The founding attorneys had collaborated for more than 15 years at several prominent national firms and shared a common vision: create a firm built around exceptional legal talent, strong client relationships, and a more efficient approach to delivering legal services.

From the beginning, CM Law was designed to challenge the traditional law firm model and focus resources where they matter most—on clients and their legal needs.

How is CM Law different from the traditional law firm model?

CM Law was founded on the belief that clients should not have to pay for the high overhead and inefficiencies traditionally associated with large law firms.

We leverage emerging technology and innovative ways of working to deliver sophisticated legal services efficiently, while avoiding unnecessary expenses such as extravagant office space, excessive support staff, elaborate artwork, marble columns, and other overhead that does not add value to the client experience.

Our approach allows us to remain focused on what matters most: providing high-quality legal counsel, responsive service, and meaningful value to our clients.

What does it mean to be a Client Minded Advocate® at CM Law?

At CM Law, we recognize that every legal matter exists within a larger business context. Whether a client is a growing business or a sophisticated in-house legal department, legal issues are often connected to broader objectives—including market demands, financial considerations, regulatory requirements, organizational culture, diversity and inclusion, and social or marketing goals.

That is why our attorneys approach each matter with an understanding of the client’s bigger picture. Rather than viewing a legal issue in isolation, we work to understand the business objectives behind it and develop practical strategies that help our clients achieve those goals.

How does CM Law bring together the right legal talent for its clients?

We cultivate cross-disciplinary, client-centered teams of attorneys with extensive legal experience and real-world business knowledge. By drawing on the collective capabilities of attorneys across practices and industries, we can assemble teams that are tailored to the specific needs of each client and matter.

This collaborative approach allows our clients to benefit from the depth and breadth of a full-service national law firm while maintaining the personalized attention and responsiveness they expect from their trusted legal advisors.

What role does inclusion play at CM Law?

Inclusion is fundamental to who we are—not simply concepts we discuss, but principles reflected in the way our firm is structured and operated.

As the largest national, full-service, women-owned and managed law firm in the United States, CM Law is proud to demonstrate its commitment through action. Our demographics and growth tell an important part of that story, as does our unique, objective, and fully transparent compensation system.

We believe meaningful inclusion requires more than statements or initiatives. It requires creating an environment where talented attorneys have opportunities to succeed, contribute, lead, and be recognized for the value they bring to the firm and our clients.

What makes CM Law’s approach successful?

Ultimately, our success is driven by our people and our commitment to our clients. We are privileged that so many business owners and in-house legal departments trust CM Law with their legal needs. That trust is a reflection of the exceptional legal work, responsiveness, business-minded perspective, and personal commitment of our attorneys.

Our model is intentionally designed to put those qualities at the center of the client experience—combining sophisticated legal counsel with efficiency, collaboration, transparency, and a genuine understanding of what our clients are trying to accomplish.

Our skilled team of trial attorneys bring persuasive arguments to life, using state-of-the-art multimedia and advanced technologies for the complex cases that we try.

Klein & Wilson LLP has recovered almost $350 million for our plaintiff clients and has saved over $1.5 billion for our defendant clients. Our successful trial record speaks for itself. We have prevailed in over 90% of the cases that we have taken to trial, earning a reputation for excellence across a broad range of complex legal matters. For this reason, our team is often asked to take new cases from parties that we defeated.

Our combination of trial experience, business acumen, and strategic planning sets us apart from other firms. Our law firm is a business, with the same opportunities and challenges that our business clients face. When you hire us, you get the benefit of working with skilled business strategists. We speak your language. We start the representation with the end in mind – we determine how to win your case and work backward from there.

We regularly consult with certified public accountants (CPAs), economists, valuation experts, and appraisers, who support our clients’ cases and provide specialized knowledge, across a wide range of industries.

Beyond our litigation success, we place a premium on our client’s overall experience. We consistently collaborate with clients to achieve the best outcomes.

When your business faces challenges especially on matters that can negatively impact your bottom line, you cannot afford to settle for anything less than proven litigators. Klein & Wilson LLP has an extensive record of success in all aspects of business litigation, and we have built our reputation for winning on these results.

For over four decades, the highly skilled and experienced team at Klein & Wilson LLP has focused on complex business litigation and legal malpractice — and our results over the years have not gone unnoticed. Neal Gerber Eisenberg was founded in 1986 by a group of lawyers of widely diverse backgrounds and personalities. Entrepreneurial and independent-minded as individuals, these lawyers were committed to a firm culture and style of practice that encouraged collaboration among colleagues at all levels. Each of the founders brought to the enterprise years of experience in and deep substantive knowledge of specialized areas of law, yet each favored practicing in ways that were broadly interdisciplinary, recognizing the fresh perspectives that approach could bring to every client matter.

The firm has grown and thrived in large part because so many of our clients have been strongly entrepreneurial and individualistic and have seen their own values and outlooks mirrored in us. Our clients appreciate that we do not view their businesses generically, but understand the uniqueness of who they are, what they do, and the legal and practical challenges they may face; that we recognize that a particular strategy or solution for one client may not be suitable for another, even if they operate in similar spheres; and, above all, that we listen. Our goal is to know the client and the client’s business as thoroughly as possible and bring creative insight to every matter. Knowing what makes each client special is what makes us special.

Neal Gerber Eisenberg is one of the largest single-office law firms in the nation. The scope of our practice is both international and domestic and covers a full range of legal services, including transactions of all kinds, litigation, and intellectual property. Our clients include Fortune 100 companies as well as small and mid-sized businesses; public companies as well as private equity firms; established institutions and start-ups. Personalized service to entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals and families is a keystone of our practice. We also are dedicated to improving the life of our community by working with public service organizations and by making legal services available, pro bono, to those who might otherwise lack access to justice.

For 40 years, we’ve succeeded—and helped our clients succeed—by deploying the best legal talent as efficiently as possible, by thinking collaboratively and “outside the box,” and by partnering with our clients to achieve the results they desire. At a time when many law firms see themselves as institutions, Neal Gerber Eisenberg continues to hold that rendering legal services is a person-to-person endeavor.

While corporate, nonprofit, association and individual clients hire O’Hagan Meyer attorneys because of our broad and deep expertise, stellar reputation and outstanding track record in the courtroom, they rehire us primarily because of one key attribute: we tell it like it is. When a case or matter comes to us, we examine it thoroughly but quickly and if we and our client believe we should litigate, we’ll roll up our sleeves and fight to win. But if we determine that it’s in the client’s best interest to settle, we’ll say so, explain why and get rid of the problem as fast and efficiently as possible. We’re straight shooters, straight away.

We have offices staffed by nationally honored and well-regarded attorneys in all the major regions in the United States. With such geographic reach and depth, we use our experience and expertise to solve problems wherever they arise. Yet, because we operate in a low-overhead environment, we’re able to deliver top-shelf counsel at fair rates. We’re not profit-driven, we’re service-driven.

Moving Your Ideas Forward

CLIENT-FOCUSED VALUE

  • We are committed to understanding your business and technology because that knowledge is fundamental to providing I.P. protection that furthers your business plan.
  • We are a mid-sized firm able to handle large matters, yet not too large to give attention to your needs and the uniqueness of each IP matter. In short, we have the "intellectual critical mass" your I.P. protection requires.
  • We have remarkably low turnover where talented attorneys can stay for an entire career. Chances are that the attorney at the beginning of a project will see it through to the end.
  • In one case we represented a very successful manufacturer of containers for pharmaceutical products who had been repeatedly threatened with litigation by a competitor in connection with the trade dress claims.  We had already successfully counseled our client in a design around to avoid the other party's patents and viewed the trade dress claims as an effort to continue the patent owner's monopoly.  We counseled the client to bring a declaratory judgment here in the Middle District of Tennessee where its principal place of business is located.  That case was started a few months ago and the parties are on the verge of concluding a settlement agreement which is highly favorable to our client.  At the present time the defendant has requested the terms of the potential settlement agreement, if and when it is consummated, be kept confidential.
  • In another case, working on an invalidity opinion, we proposed to the client that we provide a letter stating objective facts in which a U.S. patentee admitted that the claims as issued in the United States were unpatentable over patents not considered by the U.S. patent examiner who issued the case thereby saving our client ten thousand dollars and avoiding an argument that may adversely affect the validity of our client's patent.

EFFICIENT VALUE

  • While large firms have checklists that are used in every matter because they cannot otherwise effectively manage their attorneys, we understand that each I.P. matter is unique, thereby allowing us to address each I.P. matter individually -- leading to a better result at lower cost.
  • We do not rely upon the economic model of leveraging associates. We do not need to resort to over-staffing your case in order to bolster our fees.
  • Our firm's location, culture and work ethic allows us to attract exceptional legal talent at a more modest price. Therefore, we can provide you with the services of our senior attorneys at rates charged for junior associates in larger firms.
  • Protecting your intellectual property becomes a more streamlined and value added process.
  • In one case we were prosecuted an application where we copied claims from a competitor's patent for the purpose of ultimately invoking an interference proceeding. During the prosecution we were able to obtain allowance of claims broader than the copied claims. We made the strategic decision to simply accept those, and not provoke the interference, because we had achieved most of the benefit we could obtain in interference with none of the cost and risk.
  • In another case, we advised a client that a full Freedom to Operate opinion was not necessary in a non-core business area, by conducting a search for expired prior art covering the subject matter.

SKILLED VALUE

  • Having successfully prosecuted thousands of patent and trademark applications and represented their clients in hundreds of court cases, our legal team has the unique combination of practical experience and value-driven legal performance it takes to move your ideas forward.
  • We are a seasoned legal team of 14 talented and experienced I.P. attorneys.  We have breadth and depth of experience and technical backgrounds that allow us to deliver superior I.P. legal services.
  • Our associates are trained at our expense, and will not be trained on your projects. New associates go through an extensive patent drafting class that is not charged to you.
  • In one case, a former collaboration partner of our client obtained a patent on technology our client believed had been derived from our client, after the client's former patent counsel had determined the technology was not patentable. We designed and prosecuted an application and request for interference proceeding. The interference was initiated, which led to a settlement in favor of our client.

CAPABLE VALUE

  • We foster a work environment where the best legal minds can stay for an entire career.
  • We create value through continuity, because continuity yields wisdom, experience, and the ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • All of our attorneys earned technical degrees, and virtually all have had work experience that preceded their legal education.
  • We go to great lengths to be sure you'll never be billed for the learning curve of a new associate.
  • For a large medical device company, we provided a freedom to operate opinion within a month, so decision-makers could act in a timely manner.
  • In a recent case, the client retained us to resolve a dispute with a major Fortune 500 company that was in fact a customer of the client. The dispute resulted from the customer having filed and obtained a patent on a system invented by our client and disclosed to the customer. The client assumed that litigation would be necessary. Upon reviewing the facts and concluding that the client had a strong case, we contacted their customer, openly presented the facts to the customer’s patent counsel, and convinced the customer to cooperate in the filing of certificate of correction papers to correct the inventorship. Our client was able to achieve joint ownership of the patent without litigation. Litigation would have most likely placed a significant cloud upon the patent’s validity and would have strained the relationship with the customer, both of which were avoided by our approach.

Summit Law Group rejected the traditional law firm model and started from scratch to design a modern law firm founded on a single principle: customer service.

We formed Summit Law Group to revolutionize the way legal services are provided to law firm customers. Most law firms practice the same way that they did 25 years ago. Those firms focus on lawyers, not customers. Their practice model relies on large numbers of people billing large numbers of hours, often without regard for the value of the work to the customer.

We reject that model. We believe that the market for legal services has dramatically changed in the last decade. Our mission is to think creatively and proactively in formulating the most effective and efficient solutions to your legal needs.

Summit Law Group achieves great results with small, efficient and creative teams. Every person at Summit Law Group is a legal professional who shares in the firm's success, and every lawyer is an equity owner of our business. As a result, everyone on your Summit team personally feels a sense of ownership, responsibility and accountability to our customers unparalleled at other firms. We strive to eliminate the inherent inefficiencies of traditional law firm practice, such as a leveraged partner/associate hierarchy, in order to focus exclusively on you, our customer.

This model has been proven over the years by our success with a broad variety of complex legal issues, success that has created loyal, enthusiastic customers. Summit Law Group is committed to building working partnerships with our customers and delivering the highest caliber work product with entrepreneurial vigor.

Founded in 1990 by noted trial lawyer Mark Lanier, The Lanier Law Firm is recognized as one of the premier trial law firms in the United States. The firm’s experienced trial attorneys represent companies and individuals across the country from offices in Houston, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas/Fort Worth.

The firm’s vast trial experience includes substantial verdicts in cases involving asbestos exposure and mesothelioma, serious personal injuries, product liability, dangerous drugs, business fraud, and other civil litigation. The firm also is noted for its work defending some of the country’s largest companies. For example, in 2016, Mr. Lanier won two federal trial jury verdicts that together totaled more than $1.5 billion in litigation over metal-on-metal hip implants manufactured by DePuy Orthopaedics Inc., a subsidiary of New Brunswick, New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson. In April 2014, Mr. Lanier and the firm won a record verdict against pharmaceutical giants Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. and Eli Lilly & Co. over the dangerous side effects of the diabetes medication Actos, which ranked as the 7th largest verdict in U.S. history. More recently, Mr. Lanier secured a historic $4.69 billion verdict against Johnson & Johnson in the first trial verdict to affirm the link between asbestos-laden talcum powder and ovarian cancer.

Although record-setting legal victories are a firm trademark, the primary focus remains with Mr. Lanier’s original vision to provide “the highest quality legal care delivered in an honest, professional manner to enrich the lives or businesses of our clients.” Every attorney at The Lanier Law Firm is committed to solving clients’ problems while working toward favorable legal resolutions.

Mr. Lanier serves as the firm's lead litigation counsel and is recognized as one of the nation’s top trial lawyers. In addition to his Best Lawyers in America recognition, Mr. Lanier was named Lawyer of the Year in Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions by Best Lawyers and has been highlighted among the top 10 attorneys in Texas in the annual Texas Super Lawyers magazine, and featured in Texas Lawyer’s “Go-To Guide” as the state’s premiere personal injury attorney and as one of "The 25 Greatest Texas Lawyers of the Past Quarter Century."

The National Law Journal has recognized Mr. Lanier as one of the nation's Top 10 Trial Attorneys on two different occasions and highlighted him as one of the "100 Most Influential Lawyers in America" and one of the "Decade's Most Influential Lawyers." Following his victory in the nation’s first trial over the pain medication Vioxx, Mr. Lanier was described in The New York Times as “one of the top civil trial lawyers in America.”

Chambers USA and The Legal 500 ranked The Lanier Law Firm among the nation's leading firms for work in Plaintiffs' Product Liability and Mass Tort Class Actions. Editors of The National Law Journal named The Lanier Law Firm among its list of Elite Trial Lawyers and as the nation's top-ranked law firm in the area of Medical Device Litigation.

A strong supporter of his alma mater, Mr. Lanier earned his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1984. He remains active at Texas Tech by serving on the Law School's Foundation Board and was previously honored as the Texas Tech University School of Law Distinguished Alumnus.

Another hallmark of The Lanier Law Firm is its dedication to professional and community involvement. Mr. Lanier is the founder of the Christian Trial Lawyers Association, a nonprofit organization whose goal is to create a network of principled attorneys to minister to others through civic-minded endeavors. Mr. Lanier also serves on the board of trustees for the Committee for Economic Development, a group of business and education leaders committed to improving the growth and productivity of the U.S. economy and greater opportunity for all Americans.

All the firm’s attorneys and staff support numerous local charities, including Houston’s SIRE therapeutic equestrian centers, Los Angeles’ Midnight Mission, the San Francisco non-profit Legal Services for Children, and New York’s Bowery Mission Children of Bellevue.

"It's More Than A Case. It's A Cause."
